Amazon Jungle

We just arrived at our jungle lodge in the amazon after taking a boat
ride down the river. The lodge is great and we're all very excited for
our 2 nights here. On the boat out lunch was served in a banana leaf
that we just pitched over the side when we were done, a wonderful way
to end a meal.
The inca trail went well and was more challenging than we expected. It
was only 3 nights but each day included over 1000m of elevation
change. The incas were quite impressive with their building
accomplishments and technological sophistication. Machu Picchu didn't
dissapoint though by the time we walked through the city we were
exhausted.
Yesterday we had a free day in Cusco and Alyssa and I walked around
following the LP tour. We saw an incredible market, a creepy church
and the Jesus statue overlooking the town. As I mentioned on the food
blog, our afternoon snack was a 3 course meal for $4. Amazing. By the
end of the day we felt confident we thuroughly explored Cusco. Last
night was a farewell dinner of sorts, a very tasty meal in a "wine
couch bar".
The only complaint we have right now is that the weather is unusally
cold in the rain forest. We hope for some heat before we leave but at
least it keeps the bugs away. That's all for now, looking forward to
exploring this amazing ecosystem.
