South Africa Update

What a trip so far. Each day has been jam packed with adventure and
exploration of this country. After a long travel (including 10 hours
in the city of Paris), we arrived in Joburg to attend the USA game vs
Slovenia. It was a great experience and game that should have ended
with a victory. World Cup fever is easy to catch and a blast to enjoy.
The following day we headed to Port Elizabeth to start our driving
tour of the country. That evening we did a sundowner game drive
through Addo Elephant Park. Our next destination was Jeffreys Bay, or
J-bay, a world famous surfing destination. The "when in Rome"
mentality took over and the four of us tried our hand at surfing this
famous break. I didn't get very far but some of my fellow travelers
fared better. Now I can say I've swam in the Indian Ocean. We
continued onwards to Plettenberg Bay, arriving in the evening to a
quiet resort town on a Sunday night. We ate a very good meal at a
Mozambique restaurant and watched the entertaining Brazil-Ivory Coast
match. After a full nights rest we drove to Bloukrans Bridge for the
world's highest bridge bungy jump. It was a thrill we won't soon
forget and highly recommend for those people seeking adventure.
The drive that day was along the garden route and full of beautiful
vistas and towns. We stopped in Mossel Bay for a short hike along the
ocean cliffs and a sunset viewing snack. We finished the day in
Hermanus so that our drive the following morning was minimized.
Unfortunately we never saw the town in daylight because our morning
started early at 7am for our shark cage diving trip. I'd only advise
this experience for people without childhood fears from Jaws. It's a
different thrill than bungy but an amazing feeling to be so close to
the worlds scariest predator.
From one extreme to another, we finished our shark dive day with a
wine tasting and 7 course meal in Stellenbosch.
That brings us to today. We are preparing for the USA match in Simons
town after seeing some penguins and going on another wine tasting this
morning. Let's bring home a W and continue the party. Tomorrow we
arrive in Cape Town, a city we've all been looking forward to exploring.
